When Herr Helmut took over in 2017, the Ernst Fuchs Bar entered a phase of thoughtful repositioning—refining its identity while preserving its cultural significance.
At the center stands Ernst Fuchs, co-founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, whose work shaped the original interior in 1982 at the Palais Hotel Erzherzog Johann in Graz. His distinctive visual language—rooted in mysticism, symbolism, and surrealistic curiosities, and marked by a strong use of gold—remains an essential reference point.
The approach focused on translating this artistic legacy into a contemporary context. Artworks were carefully integrated. Materials and colors were refined into a coherent and immersive space.
At the same time, the bar defines itself through a strong creative direction. Precisely crafted and visually striking, the cocktails reflect the same attention to detail as the space itself—resulting in some of the most beautiful drinks in the world.
The result is a brand and environment that connects art, place, and contemporary bar culture—positioning the Ernst Fuchs Bar as a distinctive destination in Graz.
